Worshipful Master

Hello Brothers, families and friends. We have been very busy recently and have had some degree practices for Officer qualifications as well as some degree work. By the time you read this article we will have a newly minted Entered Apprentice Brother in our midst. We will then have some new members that are well on their way to becoming fully fledged Master Masons. Please take every opportunity to get to know these fine men and Brothers and let them get to know you.

The Grand Lodge of Masons in Arizona just completed our 140th Grand Communication in Chandler, AZ. A number of us were all in attendance. Our very own MWGM Randal Jager was duly and properly relieved by our newest Grand Master, MWGM Jim Baker. This was a wonderful Grand Communication and a lot of fun was had by all. Welcome to the Grand Oriental Chair, MWGM Jim Baker and Welcome Home MWB Randy Jager. We missed you and look so very forward to having you back with us. You served our Arizona Masons very well. Thank you for all of your hard work in the quarries of Arizona Freemasonry.

As a result of all our hard work in Oasis Lodge #52 this past year, we were awarded the Master Architect Award for 2022 at Grand Lodge this year. The Master Architect Award is given to a Lodge that has clearly demonstrated the ability to perform all the expected functions of well-governed lodge, i.e., competencies in Ritual, Masonic Education, Lodge Operations and Lodge Representation at other Lodges and Grand Lodge functions. The period of performance for this work began during in June of 2021 and concluded when Grand Lodge began in June 2022. My sincere thanks to all of the Brothers of Oasis Lodge #52, and especially our Junior Past Master, for all of the hard work required to accomplish the items necessary to receive this award.

I recently had the opportunity to visit a Lodge up in Denver CO. In late May, I visited Marquis de Lafayette Lodge No. 41. This Lodge meets in the beautiful Masonic Temple in downtown Denver. It is a Traditional Observance Lodge and their ceremonies were very beautiful and moving. I was welcomed quite graciously. This Lodge is in possession of the original masonic apron of Marquis de Lafayette who was quite instrumental in our American Revolution and was a good friend and Masonic Brother of our first American president, Worshipful Brother George Washington. Visiting various Lodges throughout our country has been my desire for many years and this was quite an exceptional lodge to visit. Their hospitality confirmed to me that Brotherly Love and Affection is prevalent throughout our fraternity, and, if you allow yourself, you can always find a Brother and a Friend, wherever you go. You just have to seek them out and find them. I hope that you take every opportunity available to you to visit a Lodge wherever you travel in this big world of ours. You will be very surprised and pleased with what you may find. There are great Lodges and Brothers everywhere.

Please, Brethren, come out and support your Lodge and help us make Oasis Lodge #52 'The Place to be for Masonry.' I look forward to seeing you at Lodge. Bring your wives to our Stated meetings. Our ladies, families and guests join us for dinner, our masonic education presentation and the ladies are invited to stay during our meeting and play games or just visit during their time. We would love to say hello to you and your lady.

Reach out to a Brother and say hello. See if he needs a visit or a ride to Lodge. You'll probably make his day.

What is Freemasonry?

In short, Freemasonry is the oldest and largest world wide fraternity dedicated to the Brotherhood of Man under the Fatherhood of a Supreme Being. Although of a religious nature, Freemasonry is not a religion. It urges its members, however, to be faithful and devoted to their own religious beliefs.

As a fraternity, Freemasonry provides an opportunity for men to meet and enjoy friendly companionship. In the spirit of helpfulness and brotherly love and guided by strict moral principles it encourages goodwill toward all mankind. Freemasonry is of a personal nature in its private ceremonies. Its ritual dramatizes a philosophy of life based on morality. It promotes self improvement. The tools of operative masons are used to symbolize and teach the basic principles of brotherly love, charity, and truth which Masons are encouraged to practice in their daily lives. Charity is a tangible way in which Masons help those whose circumstances in life fairly warrant it.
